Call for Articles for euroLED 2012!

The euroLED 2012 team are producing the popular LED Futures Magazine to accompany the euroLED 2012 Conference and Exhibition. This magazine will be distributed to all Conference and Exhibition delegates at euroLED 2012 and circulated at both national and international events attended by the euroLED team over the coming year.

  1. Are Zumtobel investing in any particular lighting technologies at the moment, other than LEDs, or is LEDs an area where most potential is seen?

Of course the Zumtobel Group is investing in not just LEDs but all classical, current and emerging lighting technologies but we see the LED technology as the most important lighting technology for the near future. LEDs are not just proved to be a mature and reliable technology, which have made during the last years impressive improvements in efficiency, costs and quality, but it also allows for entirely new applications due to the small form factor, the fast reaction times and the possibility to adjust the colour and colour temperature for white LEDs almost arbitrarily.

Birmingham Science Park Aston enters into a partnership agreement to create a Europe-leading test centre for lighting products

Birmingham Science Park Aston (BSPA) is entering into an agreement with Bridgend-based LUX-TSI to create LUX-OPC; a Europe-leading accredited test and measurement operation for energy efficient lighting and photonics products. The deal safeguards jobs in both locations and eight new jobs are expected to be created as a result.

BSPA’s Optical Performance Centre will become one of two state-of-the-art testing laboratories to be run by LUX-TSI. LUX’s Bridgend facility focuses on energy efficient lighting, electrical performance and safety testing, while the Birmingham testing laboratory will continue to specialise in the optical performance aspects of new lighting and photonics technology, and delivering ERDF-funded training programmes for the industry. LUX-TSI will manage both facilities; in return, BSPA will take an equity stake in the business.

National Exhibition Centre (NEC) Birmingham in 2012.

The spotlight will turn on the NEC in summer 2012 as euroLED
hosts its ninth annual exhibition, conference and gala dinner.

The ninth annual euroLED event will be held on the 13-14 June 2012 organised by Birmingham Science Park Aston. Following the success of euroLED 2011 and increased demand this year we are expanding the exhibition and conference by relocating to the National Exhibition Centre (NEC) in Birmingham, UK.
